As one of 8,500 clubs in 90+ countries, the Kiwanis Club of

Aurora
is proud to serve many issues involving children while it supports our community in many other ways. 


With a focus on SERVICE...MEMBERSHIP GROWTH...and FUN & FELLOWSHIP, our accomplishments in just one year included:


  Donations


  • $362 collected at a Tuesday meeting for the Salvation Army to kick off their bell ringing.

  • $1,548.25 raised for The Salvation Army by Bell Ringing.

  • $236 donation of Happy Dollars to Aurora University’s Circle-K.

  • Food donations were collected in October for AU’sCircle-K’s ‘Feed the Hungry” campaign.

  • $4,000 to Community Foundation for scholarships.

  • $3,000to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

  • $200 donation to support the new Kiwanis Naperville Morning Club.

  • $2,500 donation to Carpenter’s Place.

  • $25,000 to Rosary for the Hurrell scholarship.

  • $400 to the Boy Scouts of America.

  • $300 to Becky Springborn to attend and volunteer at the Special Olympics.

  • $100 to Jewel Middle School’s Children’s Project.

  • $50 for the Spastic Paralysis advertising campaign on Pace Buses.

  • $50 to Muscular Dystrophy in memory of John Drury.

  • $3,500 to our four Sponsored Groups.

  • $500 support plus $375 faculty advisor stipend: AUCircle-K, ACC & IMSA Key-Club and FVSR Aktion Club.

  • $150 to Mutual Ground.

  • $150 to Aurora Central Catholic HS Super SaturdayNight major fundraiser.

  • $250 to Royal Blue Stars Youth Basketball team fromAurora.

  • $250 to Sally Weddige with St. Thomas Church’s HaitiMedical Supply Mission.

  • Special food donation to Wayside Cross.

  • $250 to the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry.

  • $100 to the II District’s Spastic Paralysis fund.

  • $100 to the Fox Valley Academy of Music.

  • $250 to Hope D Wall School.

  • $500 to the Marklund Children’s Home.

  • $500 to the Girl Scouts

  • $500 to Honor Flight Chicago to fly WW-II veteran toWashington DC.

  • $1,000 donation to Reverend Gary L. McCann’s choice– New England Congregational Church.

  • $2,500 in materials and supplies to beatify theplayground and grounds at the Marie Wilkinson Child development Center.

  • $500 to the Compassion Foundation

  • $500 to the Fox Valley Special Recreation

  • $250 to the Fox Valley Park District’s Celetastity

  • $50 to the Watseka Kiwanis Club’s Children’s Fair

  • $50 to the Linda Canaday Scholarship Fund.

  • $600 for Pony League

  • $400 to Boys baseball

  • $300 for Girls softball

  • $30 to the Kiwanis I-I District Penguin Project

  • $455 Club annual gift to Kiwanis International

  • $2,000 to Kiwanis International for SpasticParalysis

Community Service


  • Our members volunteered 68 hours for bell ringingfor the Salvation Army.

  • 24 were Bigs-for-a-Day on December 15th – 72 hours of community service.

  • 31 attended the Pearl Harbor Day luncheon to paytribute to those that have served.

  • New Key Club started at Aurora Central Catholic HighSchool.

  • Eight members volunteered for one night at the Festivalof Lights for the Rotary Club.

  • Kiwanis Community Blood Drive – 33 units of blood.

  • Nine members volunteered at the AID Telethon and helped AID raise $97,000.

  • Sponsor & MC the Character Counts Awards Ceremony.

  • Six area students received $100 savings bond as our support to Character Counts.

  • Kiwanis One Day 250 volunteers cleaned the banks ofthe Indian Creek over 1000 community volunteer hours!

  • 250 people attend the God and Fellowman Award dinner.

  • Reverend Gary L. McCann is honored as this year’s God and Fellowman Recipient for
    his tireless and unselfish Devotion toGod, to the Greater Aurora
    Community, and to Humanity.

  • 45 Kiwanians volunteered 110 community service hoursat the Marie Wilkinson
    Child development Center to beatify grounds andplayground.

  • 30 Kiwaniains volunteered 150 community servicehours at Downtown Alive.

  • 25 Kiwainians and family marched in Aurora’s 4th of July Parade

  • 14 Kiwanians volunteered 68 hoursfor Sue Vos’ garden - Members helping members!


  • Chartered Cub Scout Pack 569 from the Homestead Elementary School

Fellowship



  • 74 members and guests attended the Installation of Officers

  • 92 members have attended fifteen interclubs!

  • 18 new members!

  • Three After Work Social Hours – 85 members have attended.

  • Kiwanis International Vice-President Paul Palazzolo– 80 members attended Tuesday meeting.

  • 50 Family and friends attended the Kiwanis Night Out  @ US Cellular Field

  • 71 golfers and 25 more for dinner - a total of 96 participants for the Kiwanis Golf Outing.

Fundraising



  • Served 1,378 at our 58th Annual Pancake Breakfast and countless hours volunteered.

  • Placemats raised $14,255.00!

  • Pancake Day raised $18,019.00!

  • Peanuts raised $8,354.34!

  • Downtown Alive tips $986.10

  • Golf Outing raised $1,600
